Hi All,

Wish you all a very Happy New Year!!

We are getting ready for rollout and are working on applying security. I wanted to know if there is faster way to apply security.. may be something like export/import or SQL INSERT statements. Going to security matrix and apply one-by-one for each role/application/version is time consuming.

Any suggestion on this would be of great help.

Thanks in advance!

We have worked with scripts to update this information as well as third party security software tools to expedite building security. Drop me a note at [email protected] and I should be able to get you some additional info on that.
Thanks,
Matt

Depending on the complexity of your installation and requirements, in general you will want to purchase a third party security tool.

The time savings are enormous, and it makes a lot of things faster

* Creating security
* Answering auditor questions "Who has access to the xxxx File?"
* Generally these programs will validate your configuration prior to applying them to the actual security workbench table, which is nice.
* Some of these programs can also include separation of duty elements.

They arn't cheap, but worth it.

There are two tools to help with application security - AllOut and QSoft. Both have their advantages and their disadvantages. The major differences between them is that AllOut uses the existing security tables, whereas QSoft introduces new tables. Both tools have "en-masse" security updating functionality which is what you're asking about. Lastly, for sign-on security (ie. user ID's) - you can either use an Oracle tool such as OAM, or Everest Softwares' SSO tool. The latter is significantly less expensive, and takes just a few hours to implement.

Q Software does introduce new tables into your E1 database to help with staging security and performing analysis on the data. However, at the end of the day, records are written to the standard E1 tables the same as if you do it all manually.
