BOM Effectivity by unit number instead of dates

JDE uses Effectivity From and Thru dates to track engineering Change Cut In. Is there any proven way to tie the effectivity to production units without using the effectivy dates. I notice the BOM file F3003 has a effectivy from no. (IXFSER)and effctivity thru no. (IXTSER) fields. Does anyone out there have experiance with using these fields? They don't show up on any screens or reports. Please advise.

We rely heavily on these dates to determine changes to our products. These dates are used by ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) in menu 3013 to track changes to BoMs. I am unsure of what you mean by "production units" in your question, although the fields do print on the ECO Details Report. You may call Jon Faux(Fox) at 1-800-862-3131 to discuss.

Jon,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we are utilizing the ECO database and functionality for making changes to the BOM and find it very helpful with integration of the data. My comment of production units has to do with what production unit the change will be cut in at per the master production schedule. We produce rail rolling stock so our volume is low relative to some manufacturing facilities. As a result engineering change is referenced to numbered unit in production. Your recomendation to reference the production unit in the ECO data is probably the best way without modifications to the software. If I get a moment I may give you a call. Thanks again.
