E9.1 MRP "Test" Run for Promotions

I'm hoping for some help on managing "planned" demand. Our marketing & sales teams come to us on a regular basis to see if they can run a promotion for a product or product bundle. Each product may have three components and a bulk with 6 ingredients.

We are trying to find a way to add this to our forecasts and run a "test" MRP to see the impact. For instance, if I add 5000 units of Widget X for April, will I need to expedite Bottle A or Ingredient Q?

Is there a process to run MRP on a test run so we can capture the data, but not impact the "live" data?

You could refresh another environment's business data and control tables from your Production database, add the planned demand into that non-Production database, and then run MRP over there. Of course, database refreshes vary widely in time to complete; ours currently takes about 3 minutes, but I've heard other customers can take hours. Depends on your database, refresh tools used, hardware, and amount of data.

Two options:
1. Create a new Branch plant for planning activities, load the forecast and run MRP, downside is inventory levels would need to mirror the production plant.
2. Create new version of the R3482 / R3483 and use different document types for work orders/Purchase orders, run prior to 'real MRP' , copy the MRP messages to Excel or a custom F55 table using a UBE. In the F55 table use a field to create a snapshot ID (date+time or next number) which will allow you to compare the messages for variants on the forecast (compare snapshot 1 to 3 etc)
