Recording stock 'events' in the Cardex

Sorry, I have posted this in the APPS section too, but wan't feedback from everyone

Hi list,

We are using E9.0 and we have stock that is co-owned. We have a custom tool to transfer ownership of LOTs from ourselves, to the supplier/customer.

This then writes records to the GL so everything balances up fine.

A question has been raised that none of these transfers are recorded in the Cardex. So we have no track of the transfers we have made.

So we may insert custom records there to denote what happened to the LOTs etc. Kind of like 'memos' that don't effect base E1 function.

Which DCTs can we use to do this without breaking anything in E1?

I have seen 8 custom DCTS in 00 DT X1-X4 and Y1-Y4

Could we use these to write 'benign' records into the cardex?

Thanks

John

Crazy questions, why not use using ST/OT processing?

The reason for this is a little more complex as we hold stock that isn't ours until a certain time period and visa versa. So this was dreamt up to reflect such in the GL

All I need to do is just insert a 'memo' type record into the Cardex. So if anyone knows how to do that, cool.
Too late to rewrite what we've done :)

I did this once upon a time, possibly in reverse, in WorldSoft, for pharma in hospitals... as far as I can recall, we used standard ST/OT with extra lot tracking mods for blood products. Stock remained financially ours until consumed, via an SO possibly keyed weekly or daily.

Your system sounds similar, except the sale happens at the ST/OT stage, which is tricky. Do you still maintain stock figures once it's transferred to the supplier/customer? How does the stock ever get consumed?
If you are wanting to insert memos into the cardex, I think your approach is correct, and your tool should really be writing transfers for lot tracking purposes. I'd pick an X1/Y1 pair and simulate something similar to a ST/OT there, and test thoroughly for borkiness

So the inventory branch never changes during all the switcharoo's?

Stock gets consumed as normal. To fullfil a SO or WO etc. So the levels drop and rise and WOs are made, PO received SOs fullfilled etc.
The issue is we hold and stock kit that isn't ours....It's our customers and then buy the final product off us. And this is actually visa versa in some business cases.

but..... forget the intricacies of how and what this is actually doing :) (all that is taken care of and too late to change now)

The only thing that changes when we switcharoo the stock is the VEND field in F4108, and LRP1/LRP2 that show ownership. (Us, customer, or the supplier)
I then do some on-going wizardry in the GL to balance out all sides of the GL to reflect financials. It's amazing stuff ;)

All I need is 'dummy' cardex records that have zero GL impact but when the cardex is looked at, someone can see clearly the date we transferred the stock :)

I've seen memo transactions before. Don't think the doc type mattered.

Here's what I found from oracle

E1: 31A: How the IPCD Code Works with Different Manufacturing Transactions (Doc ID 855913.1)

"IPCD Code - X

"X" in the IPCD field means that it is a memo transaction and has no impact on inventory value. When inventory integrity reports and inventory as-of-processing are run, they will ignore the transaction."

I know you are directly using manufacturing here but you might be able to fly under the radar utilizing this. again. test test test than test one more time

You sir are a star :)

I was looking at IMs and noticed that column and then checked the UDC, so yeah that looks perfect.

We'll all have a good read. Thanks again
