media object strange behavior when changing pages

I have a media object form control on a form of my APPL. It has many pages and each page contains XML strings. The strange thing I noticed was the first time I view a page, the xml string was displayed fine. But let's say I go from page 1 to page 2 and then go back to page 1, all the XML tags were stripped off on page 1, only the values were displayed. I went to that record in the F00165 table and the xml seems to be fine. So it looks like for some reason the front end strips all the XML tags off the 2nd time when you view a page.

I tried using "Disable Characterization Cache" but no luck. Under the Properties tab of the MO, I unchecked everything except for the checkbox called "Allow Text Items"

Do you have any idea why this behavior occurs?
