RE: Offshore development, You have got to be kidding!

I have some very senior American citizen JDE consultants with excellent
communications skills who are JDE EDI Guru's as well as handle every other
aspect of the JDE World/OneWorld systems and will not charge 200 an hour
either.

Let us start supporting the home teams' folks.

Offshore development is not a good idea when you have senior level American
citizen JDE consultants who are willing to work for the same rate as what it
would take to go out of the country.

You do not need to look very hard these days if you need JDE consulting help
and you sure do not have to go all the way to India for it.

You also need to think about your company's data security going offshore.
In addition, do you have the same confidence in these foreign companies
insurance coverage covering your project or implementation? If I were still
an IT Director or CIO, I sure would not want my companies system open to the
world. Layer all the security and encryption you want into VPN and there
will always be some hacker out there always up for the challenge.

One more thing, since when did we start using the JDE list to advertise for
consulting services? This is ridiculous.

My 2 cents!

Oh, goodie. Let's start the Boomerang vs ViceVersa argument all over again, why don't we. And ditto to everything Don said.

I dont' think the people that make those decisions (to go with off-shore development) are very IT savy. If so, they wouldn't choose that route based on most of what Don had to say. However, many IT departments are "encouraged" to go this route by corporate big wigs for the sake of a corporate image that has "diversity".
